from Lauchernalp
the shortest trail to the pass
Starting point for this hike is Lauchernalp, which can be reached from Wiler in Lötschental within a few minutes with the gondola. First, the path leads left past the restaurant Bergsonne, the ski lift following thorugh pastures up to the Restaurant Berghaus, the highest building on the Alpe. From there, the trail leads westwards always slightly upward through a large bowl to the “Mälcherböden” and further along the slope to the Golmbach. After the creek is crossed, the trail climbs steeply and the environment is rocky.
After about 1 1/2 hours, the Hockensatteleggi is reached at 2,566 m above sea level. Continue through rocky terrain along a well marked path. With a little luck can be observed ibex or ptarmigan in this section. After another 30 minutes you reach an area with many small lakes, which invite you to swim or Kneippen. On the horizon under the Ferdenrothorn a large stone man is now visible, the cottage comes into view now for the first time.
