School trips and class camps
Experience nature and expand knowledge at the Lötschen Pass
We are happy to support you in planning a school trip or a multi-day class camp at the Lötschen Pass. School trips and class camps regularly take place at the hut. During unforgettable days on the Lötschen Pass, students can learn a great deal about alpine nature and renewable energy. Climbing with a local mountain guide was especially fun, and the children also enjoyed swimming in the mountain lake.
The hike to the Lötschenpass Hut is also well suited for school trips. Each year, several school classes (from 4th grade to upper secondary level) visit the hut.
Project “Alpine Learning”
We are part of the “Alpine Learning” project, initiated by the UNESCO World Heritage Site Jungfrau-Aletsch. Within this framework, 2–3 school classes spend 5 days with us on the Lötschen Pass every autumn. In small groups, they explore topics such as sustainability, renewable energy, geology, alpine flora, and tourism. They also acquire basic climbing skills and learn about daily life in a mountain hut through the hut module. A highlight is the ascent of the Hockenhorn accompanied by a local mountain guide.
We are happy to provide interested teachers with information about this exciting project. We also support the planning of school trips or multi-day class camps at the Lötschen Pass. We offer ideas and teaching materials on the following topics. The modules can be freely combined and expanded.
- Experience alternative energy in a playful way
- Animals of the Alps
- Flowers of the Alps
- Ephemeral artworks made of stone
- Climbing in the climbing garden
- Orientation and map reading
- Work and life in a mountain hut (mandatory)
