For the new year we wish you a lot of confidence, good health, enriching encounters and inspiring moments. We keep our mountain oasis open for you as far as possible. Enjoy unforgettable moments with us in the magnificent mountain world, which give you strength for everyday life in the valley.


Opening times winter season 2021

The hut will be open in winter 2021 as follows:

January 29 to April 11, 2021.

According to the decision of the State Council of December 22nd, 2020, catering establishments must remain closed until February 28nd, 2020 or are only allowed to accommodate overnight guests to eat in the hut. As planned, our hut will remain open for overnight guests. Day guests can make use of our take away offer.

Please note the currently applicable protective measures due to COVID-19 and prepare yourself accordingly for your visit to us.

No winter room is available during the unattended period.

Project “Alpine learning” for school classes


Again, two school classes were allowed to spend a few unforgettable days with us in August and September as part of the “Alpine learning” project. It is always a great pleasure for us to spend time with such interested, respectful and friendly young people and to bring them closer to life in the mountains and the special features of a mountain hut. Thank you and your dedicated teachers, companions and mountain guides for the great time!

Info: Protective measures in connection with COVID-19
So that the stay in the Lötschenpasshütte is a wonderful experience even in times of Corona, we appeal to our guests:
  • Only visit our huts in a healthy state!
  • Reserve your place to sleep!
  • Bring your own personal hygiene items and protect yourself as specified and you think it’s right: protective masks, disinfectants, hut sleeping bags, pillow cases, towels!
  • Take the used hygiene items back down into the valley and dispose of them properly!
  • Keep the distance rules to other visitors and employees if possible.
  • No running water available in winter! Bring your own disinfectant for hand hygiene.
  • Find out about the currently applicable cantonal measures.
Be aware that space is limited in a hut and that it is possible on individual days in the high season and especially on weekends for operational reasons that the minimum distances are not can be complied with. The minimum distance between the individual persons cannot be granted within individual guest groups. Take care of your own protection as you see fit or visit us during the week in the off-season.

The hut team will take the following measures from December 27, 2020 to curb the spread of the corona virus among guests and employees and to comply with the measures prescribed by the authorities:



  • Take away offer for day guests (no possibility of consumption inside the hut)
  • the tables that can be used on the terrace as well as in the dining room by overnight guests are 1.5m apart.
  • Mask compulsory according to the currently applicable instructions of the authorities
  • For overnight guests, the contact details of the group leader are recorded in order to be able to guarantee traceability.
  • Controlled ventilation throughout the hut
  • Thorough cleaning of surfaces
  • Cashless payment with Twint, Revolut or on account possible, but payment also with cash
By visiting us you agree to our measures and follow them. During this special time we depend on the personal responsibility of you guests, on mutual consideration and on your common sense.

Spend a night in an outdoor bed under millions of stars: possible again from July 2021

Million stars hotel: Star-gazing outdoor-bed on the Lötschenpass

In summer 2020 there will be over 50 “Million stars hotels” in operation throughout Switzerland: from July to October 2020 there was also a Millions stars bed on the Lötschenpass. This is now winter-proof, but will be available again in summer 2021.

The star bed (a double bed) is a few meters in front of the Lötschenpasshütte in the great outdoors and offers a unique view of the mountain peaks of the Valais and the small lake.

It is equipped with:

  • cozy blankets with warm bed bottles
  • modern infrastructure with toilets and showers are in the hut
  • in case of cold or bad weather conditions, two beds are reserved in the mountain hut in a shared room.


Book an unforgettable night at 2700m under millions of stars and with a clear view of the Bietschhorn and the Valais four-thousand-meter peaks.
