During the winter months the cottage is reached with touring skis, snowshoes and from Hockenhorngrat with normal skis. Starting points for the winter ascents are the Lauchernalp and Ferden in Loetschental and Leukerbad.

All winter ascents are located outside the secured and controlled slopes. The consultation of the avalanche bulletin  and the necessary touring equipment are a must for a visit. The cottage team can provide information about the snow and avalanche conditions.  Accompanied by an experienced mountain guide you experience the rise relaxed and safe and also learn more interesting facts about the environment.
